UWU’s submission to the Productivity Commission: 5 Pillars Inquiry calls for:

  • Productivity gains to be shared with workers through better wages, conditions, and leisure time.
  • Reforms to improve the tax system by closing loopholes that currently allow corporations to avoid paying their fair share.
  • Direct investment in paid, accessible workplace training.
  • Regulation to ensure workers are included in and consulted on the development and deployment of new technologies, including AI.
  • Care sector reforms that prioritise people – placing the needs of older Australians, people with disabilities, children, and the workers who support them above provider convenience or cost-cutting.

If you want to learn more about the detail, we’ve provided the entire submission as a download.
