United Workers Union members have reached an in-principle EBA agreement with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), with commitments they hope will improve conditions and safety across the service.
QLD AMBOS EBA CAMPAIGN
We Stood Together. We’ve Won.
Queensland Ambulance workers have secured a breakthrough. After months of showing up, not just on the job, but in the fight for fairness—we’ve reached a new agreement that recognises the work we do and the sacrifices we make.
From safe workloads to finishing on time, from improved penalties to fairer pay, this win belongs to every Ambo who stood their ground, told their story, and stayed strong. This is what happens when we back each other. When we speak with one voice.
Because just like on the job We Were There. Always.
And now, the system is finally showing up for us too.

Will the QLD Government stand with our Ambos, Health Professionals, Teacher Aides and School Cleaners?
From the Gold Coast to the Torres Strait, Lawn Hill to Birdsville – Queenslanders want to know they can call our Ambulance service in their time of need. When the call comes at 3am, they are there. When families are falling apart on the worst day of their lives, they are there…
When we send our children to school, we rely on the dedication of Teacher Aides and School Cleaners to ensure every child is supported, safe, and able to thrive throughout their crucial school years.
When we have to go to hospital, or help loved ones through those tough times, nothing that can overstate how much the people – the highly skilled, experienced people that do specialised, essential work- ensure our hospitals work and people receive the care they need.
Now, the people that make our Ambulance service, our schools and our hospitals work are standing up for Queensland.
Will you stand with them?

Bargaining FAQs + Union benefits
Everything you need to know about bargaining and why it’s important to be union
Enterprise Bargaining Agreements are negotiated between an employer and employees to set wages and conditions at your workplace. They are legally enforceable and can never be worse than award minimums.
No. Only union members can participate in protected actions. Protected actions can only happen during bargaining, and are used to make employers negotiate with union members on their Log of Claims.
Bargaining has four stages.
(1) Employees decide on a Log of Claims (LOC). The LOC is a list of improvements to pay and conditions that employees want.
(2) A bargaining committee is formed, consisting of union members and delegates.
(3) Negotiations begin between the employer and the union representing employees.
(4) Employees vote on the agreement and if a majority are in favour, the agreement is lodged with the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission and becomes enforceable.
