INTERNATIONAL
WOMENS DAY

THE 2025 IWD SURVEY RESULTS HAVE BEEN RELEASED:

We are the women who keep this country running—in the workplace, at home, and in our communities. Our work powers the economy, and our union fights to make sure that work is valued.

This year, we have even more to celebrate

This is what the power of union women coming together has achieved over the last 3 years:

15% pay rise for Early Educators

Up to 28% pay rise for Aged Care workers

Flexible working arrangements

Paid super on parental leave

Paid carers leave & Domestic & Family Violence leave

Multi-employer bargaining rights

This progress promotes a fairer, safer and better future for working women.

But right now, our progress is at risk.

The Coalition, under Peter Dutton, has opposed every reform that supports working women
including higher pay, stronger workplace protections, and better conditions.

Multi-Employer Bargaining

Multi-employer bargaining is crucial in feminised industries like Early Education, Aged Care and Disability Support to bargain collectively and secure better pay and conditions to lift the entire sectors. The Coalition Government stated they will remove Multi-employer bargaining, risking the rights and conditions union women have fought for and won over decades.

Pay & Rights Reforms for Women

The Coalition has historically opposed measures that improve pay equity and workplace rights for women, including reforms that have:

- Narrowed the gender pay gap.
- Improved wages in feminized industries.
- Strengthened protections against workplace discrimination and harassment.

Stronger Workplace Protections

Dutton and the Coalition have delayed or blocked:

- Stronger protections against workplace sexual harassment.
- Gender pay gap reporting and pay transparency reforms.
- Outlawing pay secrecy clauses, which prevent workers from discussing their pay and identifying pay discrimination.

As union women, we have power—
and we will use it.

Women before us fought for the right to vote, and now it’s our turn to vote for a better future. Women can’t afford a Dutton government. We won’t risk going backwards.

Together with our power, our union and our vote, we will protect our rights and demand a better deal for working women. We will elect leaders who value, commit to, and deliver real change for working women. We will stand together to protect our wins and demand even more.

Do you want to help us build power and support us by joining our fight?
