These Everyday Heroes Keep Our Schools Running – Now They Need Your Support

These Everyday Heroes Keep Our Schools Running – Now They Need Your Support

For 28 years, Tasmania’s school cleaners, grounds staff, and kitchen assistants have been left behind. Their workloads are unsafe and unsustainable. It’s time for fair investment—stand with them today.

Will You Stand with Tasmania’s Everyday Heroes?

They’re the first in, last out at our schools but after 28 years without investment, our cleaners,
grounds staff, and kitchen assistants are saying enough is enough.

Every day, Education Facility Attendants (EFAs) ensure our schools are clean, safe, and ready for learning. Without them, schools simply cannot open or operate to the standards our students, staff,
and parents expect. They are essential members of our school community.

1997 Resources, 2025 Demands

Kitchen Staff: Now prep 36 classes per week (up from 10 in 1997) with the same hours.

Grounds/Cleaning Staff: Maintain expanded facilities and spaces without additional support.

The workload is unsafe and unsustainable. They’re calling on the government to act.

Our Schools Have Evolved, Investment in EFAs Hasn't

Since 1997, schools have transformed with new facilities, programs, and educational approaches. But the resources and support for the people who keep them running have remained frozen in time – how is that fair?
