Did you know UWU has an election this year?

Every 4 years, UWU holds a national convention of elected union delegates who come together to discuss our priorities for the coming years. During the convention, UWU delegates along with the Member Council and the National Executive discuss our strategy and ensure our aims align with the mission of our union.

When is the national convention and who goes?

The next national convention will be held in July 2026. Members from each UWU electorate will have a delegate representing them. Our delegates come from across Australia and represent our diverse membership and wide range of industries.

How does voting work?

Nominations close on 23 March 2026 and all submissions are reviewed by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to ensure they comply with UWU’s rules. Where there is more than one candidate, a ballot may be required. If a ballot is required, it will be decided by a first-past-the-post system of voting. Whoever gets the most votes wins. So, if there’s an election for your electorate, you will receive a postal vote pack at the address you have registered with UWU.

How long will voting be open?

The ballot will open on the 30th of April, 2026 and close at 10:00am (AEST) on 28 May 2026.

I’m a member and I haven’t received a voter pack. What should I do?

If you haven’t received your postal vote pack within 10 days after the ballot opens, you can contact the AEC to request a replacement. You will need to provide an event number: E2025/208. Replacement ballot packs can be mailed by regular post to anyone on the voter roll for this event. Postal vote packs will be sent to the address you are currently registered with in UWU’s member records.

If you need a replacement pack, please contact the AEC at [email protected] or by phone at 02 9375 6366 or 03 9285 7111 and provide event number E2025/208.

This election is an important part of the direction we take as a union and we encourage all members to get involved.
